Investment secures top award for CRP

For the second year running, speciality products group CRP Print & Packaging, have once again clinched one of the top honours at the UK Packaging Awards, winning the coveted Investment Project of the Year category for their KBA Litho Press installation - the company won the Design Team of the Year category in 2010.

In a glittering event at the London Hilton on Park Lane, on 16 November 2011, CRP impressed the judges with their “transformational” investment, in creating a one-of-a-kind production facility in Europe for producing high-quality corrugated litho packaging.

At £3.5m, not only was it KBA’s largest sheetfed printing installation in the UK for many years, it was CRP’s biggest investment yet, prompting one member of the judging panel to say, “This is a real game-changer for the company and for the market.”

This step change investment allows CRP’s customers to benefit from a combination of the very best manufacturing and printing capabilities linked with exceptional customer service.

In what has been an excellent year for CRP on the awards circuit, winning a silver award at the European POPAI Awards in July, followed by more success at the UK POPAI Awards in October by collecting a silver and three bronze awards, their success at the UK Packaging Awards is especially poignant.

CRP’s Dev Brahmachari said, “The Awards are a key event, which not only includes a gathering of most of the industry’s important decision makers, but also representatives from some of the UK’s leading brands. Winning here for a consecutive year underpins our position as a market leader in the design and manufacture of high quality packaging for brand owners.

“The KBA installation has been a significant milestone in our history and one of which we are justifiably proud. We are determined to stay ahead of the competition through investment in the most advanced printing technologies available, and with the KBA press we are doing just that.”

More CRP success at POPAI

With a silver award from the European POPAI Awards in June for their Toblerone Tobelle display, leading speciality products group, CRP Print & Packaging, have triumphed again by adding a silver and three bronze awards to their tally at the UK POPAI Awards at London’s Park Lane Hilton Hotel on 25 October.

In a ceremony where the awards were largely dominated by independent design and marketing agencies, CRP’s winning entries demonstrated the skill and creativity of their in-house design team, particularly in gaining a silver award for the Gillette ProGlide display.

Bronze awards were won for CRP’s Herbal Essences floor stand and their Nice ‘n Easy Foam unit, both created for Procter & Gamble and the Toblerone Tobelle display for Kraft Foods.

Commenting on their performance, CRP’s Mike Devine said, “We are delighted with our success at POPAI. The event continues to be the highlight of the in-store marketing calendar and, as a speciality products group, it was a significant achievement for us amidst such strong competition.”

CRP’s alluring Gillette ProGlide display, specifically produced for Boots and Co-op, represented one of the largest Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) launches in the UK. The design provided Gillette with unprecedented sales within the first 12 weeks at retail, beating the historic benchmark set by the Gillette Fusion introduction in 2004.

The unit was designed using a unique central structure with four floating shelves. All elements of the display were Litho printed in-house on CRP’s state-of-the-art press.

The base footprint of the unit was tapered downwards to give the illusion that the unit is floating. The units were designed to be delivered pre-filled with stock to store.

CRP creates limited edition Peroni packs

A new range of stylish Peroni Nastro Azzurro glassware packs have been produced for Miller Brands, the UK subsidiary of SAB Miller, by the leading speciality products group CRP Print & Packaging.

In providing a complete service from design to delivery, CRP worked closely with all parties to ensure that the packs reached retail within tight timescales.

CRP’s Matt Watts said, “In terms of speed to market, the service we provide is to set and manage a critical path that integrates all elements in the process together.
Initially, we had to ensure that the eye-catching design not only presented the glassware positively, but also retained maximum brand appeal across the pack itself.

“We then worked alongside the co-packer to ensure that the packs were fit-forpurpose and could be transported without damage. We don't just provide the box, we deliver the complete solution.”

Commenting on the new packs, Miller Brands director of trade marketing, Laura Edwards said, “CRP care passionately about our brand. They fully appreciate the complexities of getting packs to market quickly and are able to meet our requirements head-on.

“For both our litho packaging and POS requirements, the service provided by CRP is innovating, seamless and adds value to our marketing activity.”
